Broken Media Uploader
-
Having trouble uploading PDF files. The drag and drop, looks like the upload happens then goes into “crunching” and never comes out.
The select files option, seems to upload a file, but no crunching or anything, just sites there and the same file can be uploaded again, but no file shows up in the media library, using Firefox, current version, Win Vista, DSL, file size about 6.5 Mb.
Any suggestions?
thanks

Hi auxclass,
I can’t seem to reproduce the issue. Do you also encounter this in different browser?
Looking forward to your reply.

I tried a way old version of IE and the Browser for file upload did work – the drag and drop thing was not supported anymore on the version of IE on my PC – could not find any update button for IE
did try again with FF and no go again
IE really sucks
So does this mean I need to upload PDF files on a different computer?
thanks

Seems to be a large file naming collision issue
The large file had been uploaded some time back (AOR-Test-Seattle-Chart) – I am updating an older Post and missed the duplicate file
With IE the duplicate file name was fine – With FF the duplicate file crashed – to test that – I changed the file name (Upload test) and the file uploaded fine with FF.
That does not however address why the smaller PDF files I uploaded as a test did upload fine with a duplicated file name
The Post I am updating is: http://captnmike.com/2010/03/07/area-charts/ – it is Password Protected – I am assuming you can deal with that little detail if you want to see the original file names & dates
If you need more detailed info on file names etc – please either email me or move this thread to a closed to the public as I don’t want the files into the general public
Note: The file names have been a bit obscured here but there should be nothing else close on my site
Thanks & good luck

Yes, any additional information is welcome. Could you please send an e-mail to this e-mail address?
Feel free to link any PDF files that we can try uploading to your blog to see if we can reproduce the issue.
Looking forward to your reply.
