Broken RSS Feed
-
Can someone help us fix our RSS feed? We are just a basic WordPress account and this is affecting our music blog’s ability to be collated by HypeMachine.
I have no idea how to remove/add plugins, or any stuff like that! I’m pretty helpless when it comes to web development. Here’s the error message on my feed:
This page contains the following errors:
error on line 168 at column 31: Input is not proper UTF-8, indicate encoding !
Bytes: 0x1A 0x3C 0x73 0x74http://musicbetweenfriends.com/feed
Any assistance or direction would be great!!

Hi there. I can view your feed just fine. You might be using a browser that isn’t able to interpret feeds. Google Chrome is one of those that is known to have problems with feeds. See: http://en.support.wordpress.com/feeds/#feed-errors
If you’re using Chrome, please see if you still get this error message when viewing your feed in a different browser, like Firefox or Internet Explorer. Make sure you’re also using the latest version of your browser listed here: http://browsehappy.com/
It won’t hurt to also clear your browser’s cache and cookies: http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/
I have no idea how to remove/add plugins, or any stuff like that!
That’s okay. We don’t have any access to those stuff on WordPress.com, so even if you knew how it wouldn’t help you :-)

Hi kokkieh,
Out of curiosity what are you using to view the feed?
I’ve tried in a few browsers and can’t get it to come up.
Chrome usually shows me the raw xml but all I get is an error.
Firefox live bookmarks won’t load the feed.
IE won’t display it just says the feed contains an error.
“An invalid character was found in text content.
Line: 186 Character: 25″@katie
The character that seems to be getting hung up for me is in the post
http://musicbetweenfriends.com/2014/07/11/happy-birthday-to-me-mbf-canadian-music-treatzzza-pizza/The line Wasteland – Hooded Fang (Toronto)
It looks like there is an unsupported character right before the H in Hooded Fang. I think if you re-type this line (don’t copy and paste) it may fix it up. -
I’m using Firefox 30 on Windows. It does not display a full feed, though. Only the first few posts, but that can be due to their Reading Settings.
