Broken WordPress website with no FTP access
-
Hi, I changed the design theme on a client’s website and the whole website broke completely. I can’t even access the admin end of the website now. This is really unusual that changing a theme should cause such an error? Is this an issue with WordPress and an update or lack of? The error message I get is HTTP ERROR 500. It is a very old website but was last edited in 2019. I have no FTP access. We don’t use FTP. Hopefully the community can help since there is no way to contact WordPress….

Your site is not hosted with WordPress.com but instead a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted elsewhere.
We cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. But, I can get you pointed in the right direction.
You should reach out to your host for help with this issue. Since they’re hosting your site’s files, they also have access to those files and are the best ones to help you with this issue.
