browser gets stuck "loading in design tools

Add topic to favorites
I upgraded and am attempting to customize the blog. When I click on “customize” the browser goes to screen which says “loading design tools” and then quits responding.
I cleared all cookies/cache. I restarted Firefox. I tried Internet Explorer. I restarted my computer. Still will not load in design tools.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Make sure that you have third-party cookies enabled: http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/

Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.

You’ve tried what I would have suggested. I know staff is probably still working on tweaks on the customize stuff. It is loading fine for me.

What version of FF are you using?

I checked, third-party cookies are available. I disabled adblock plus. Not sure how to disable browser extensions and add-ons.

You can get to the old CSS editor page by adding this to the end of your base site URL:

wp-admin/themes.php?page=editcss

Such as: http://jamieleat.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php?page=editcss

I’m new so I’m not sure what to expect. I clicked on the URL you suggested then tried clicked on font. This time the browser goes off thinking never to return.
I guess I shouldn’t have upgraded.

This bug seems to be related to the front page settings and/or to infinite scrolling. Try this: go to Settings > Reading, select “Front page displays” > “A static page”, select your About page from the pulldown, click Save Changes, then go to Appearance > Customize and see if the thing got unblocked.

Which “Settings”? In WordPress? I don’t see the “Front Page displays”.

Settings > Reading in your dashboard sidebar. Your blog settings, not your account settings.

Anytime I try to change the appearance, the browser goes off into infinity. I’ve tried changing the template, everything. But anytime I go to the ‘Loading Design Tools” page, it gets stuck.

Next workaround you could try (after switching back to front page displays your latest posts): go to Appearance > Theme Options and select the “Concise” instead of the “Detailed” layout. (You’re using Chateau, right?)

Also, if you’re trying other themes, see if it makes any difference when you activate one of the themes that don’t support infinite scrolling: Duotone, Forever, Mixfolio, Structure, Suburbia, Sunspot, The Columnist or The Morning After.

All my previous suggestions worked in my tests blog. Now I’m out of ways to bypass the bug: I’m afraid we’ll have to wait till WP fixes it.
