Browser problems since WordPress upgrade in Nov

Hi, since the upgrade/changes to the dashboards and initial landing pages, I cannot view or access the new version when I’m in work (working on a work blog) using IE8 and Chrome. It displays and works fine at home in Chrome and Firefox.

Work have just upgraded Chrome to 39.0.2171.71 but it still doesn’t work. Immediately after the WordPress changes in Nov I could access a workable version in IE8 but now nothing displays. I have no control over my browsers in work and they are not going to be upgrading IE8.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Chrome version 39 should work with the updated WordPress.com dashboard. If you’re having trouble with a newer browser like that, it’s possible that there is a rule in your work firewall that is blocking access for you. Some companies block sites like blogging sites as part of their policies about what you should be spending time on at work and sometimes it’s just due to an errant setting. If you can talk with your company IT team to ask if traffic is allowed for WordPress.com, they should be able to help you verify if a firewall or network rule is the source of the problem you described.

Aside from that, trying to access the new dashboard with an old/unsupported browser such as Internet Explorer 8 should redirect you to a page with links to WP Admin and http://browsehappy.com/

Thanks @designsimply, I’ll see what the IT people can do!

@designsimply -there’s no plugins needed are there? Just checking.

No browser plugins are needed in order to view WordPress.com blog posts. In fact, sometimes browser plugins can interfere and cause a site not to load or for its content to load incorrectly. If you have any browser extensions installed in Chrome, you might try temporarily disabling them to test whether they are the source of the access problem you described earlier.
