Brute Force Log Ins
-
Hello,
In regard to JetPack, I can’t seem to find any settings where I can activate or deactivate various features.
When using JetPack on a self-hosted WordPress site, I can activate or deactivate various features – but is that not possible with JetPack here on WordPress.com?
What I’m particularly wondering about is the “Brute force attack protection” available in JetPack used on self-hosted sites. Is there no similar feature here in JetPack on WordPress.com?
Thanks for any help.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

WordPress.COM has multiple server farms in North America and in Europe that means lost of redundancy. Moreover, WordPress.COM hosts VIP sites like these ones https://vip.wordpress.com/clients/ I suggest that you don’t fret about this. In fact the jetpack plugin simply is a mega plugin that is provided to give wordpress.ORG users parity ie. what we already have built in at wordpress.COM. It’s not the other way around at all.

Thanks, timethief. I understand that, but what I’m wondering about is the Brute force attack protection that prevents a hacker from using a brute force attack to “guess” the password of a web site in order to gain access.
The plugin version of JetPack has an option to turn that feature on or off…so I’m just wondering if JetPack running here on WordPress.com includes brute force protection or not…and if so, is there a way to turn it on or off.

You don’t have either a Premium or Business plan so the extra plugins are not available to you and the answer is no.

What Jetpack provides is builtin and we cannot turn anything off.
No one can guess a strong password that is frequently changed to another strong password. https://en.support.wordpress.com/selecting-a-strong-password/ Never select an password that in any way reflects the site name or its content.

@vietnoweditor Brute Force login attack prevention is automatically enabled and active for all sites hosted on WordPress.com.

Have a great weekend vietnoweditor and don’t fret. Just employ all security measures I linked to above and there won’t be an issue.
