    Hello,

    Would you be able to instruct me on how to go about installing the Buddypress plugin? I read the how-to for installation of buddypress, and it instructs me to go to the “plugins” area of the dashboard, however, there is no plugins area in my dashboard. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi there!

    Buddypress is an awesome open source project! But it is a plugin only usable on self-hosted sites running the free software from WordPress.org.

    To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities. You can read more about that here:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

    If you’d like to build a site with Buddypress, a self-hosted site is the right choice to have full access to your site’s back-end files and plugins required.
