I uploaded my header, which worked perfectly, but I’m wondering if I can delete the blog title (appears in a large Helvetica font). Is that possible?
-
You can delete it in Settings>General, but this is bad for search engines.
You can hide it if you buy the CSS upgrade.
Or you can switch to a theme that includes the “Hide Text” option – see here:
-
Thanks!! I tried switching to “Benevolence,” which allows me to hide the text, but now there’s no tabs for my static pages. Any ideas?

@starkravingmadmommy
If you want both a theme that has a custom image header and Page tabs then you will have to switch themes again.

panaghiotisadam can you help me out?
I followed your instructions about removing the boarders on a picture…
• To get rid of the border around an image: in the visual editor, click image, click mountain icon, click Advanced Settings, type 0 in Border box, click Update, click Update Post; in the html editor, add this to the image code: style=”border:none;”
I’m a little confused about where in the htlm code I paste style=”border:none;”
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

@lookitsbray
Borders can be removed from linked images by visiting the Advanced Settings for that image and addingborder: 0pt none;to the Styles field.
If not the try this:
border:0 none;If neither work then another Volunteer will “rescue” us. lol :D
-
@lookitsbray: If you try the “Advanced Settings” way once then switch your editor to html, you’ll see where exactly this code snippet is supposed to be. Image code starts like that:
<img src= [etc]
You turn it to this:
<img style="border:none;" src= [etc] -
I LIKE THE BUENO HEADLINE FONT!! :-)
SANDRA wrote: “So I have a black font in post and mostly gray font on sidebar. People often have a different color in the sidebar, so I think this is fine. I would prefer black all around and I too could live without the chunky blog title and page titles. ”
LornaKismet replies: At first I was startled by the size and chunkiness of the Bueno header font but then I realized that it is the only theme that offers a big, bold, headline type font that really attracts/grabs the eyeball. For my blog, it works. I would not be using it for, say, “My Grandmother’s Favorite Recipes,” or “Lyric Portuguese Poetry,” but it visually matches what I do.
I hope that the Bueno people do not change the font!!!!!

I LOVE THE BUENO THEME!
PANAGHOSIAN wrote: “(Frankly, I’m surprised you’re thinking of switching from ChaoticSoul to Bueno; to me, no comparison.) ”
Lorna replies to Panos: I looked at Chaotic Soul and decided that it was too chaotic for me so I passed it over. One of the great results of these forums is that one gets a chance to read an opinion that jumps out at you and startles you… and makes you think. I still would not use Chaotic Soul for my type of blog, and so far, the features in Bueno really please me. It is easy to look at and draws me in.
I love reading people’s comments here. One I do agree with is: I also would like the text font to be a dark charcoal if not black. Yup.

Re: Chaotic Soul:
Ok. I just now went back to see it, and realize why I did not choose it: Because it has a black background, and I find it hard to read light text on black/dark background.~~LK

Sandra’s comment was made over a month ago now on May 8th, 2010 here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/bueno/page/2?replies=152#post-460364There has been no statement made by the Theme Team to the effect that they intend to change the font on Bueno. Here’s a link to all the threads on Bueno http://tinyurl.com/2ct3hbq
Is there something that you need help with?

Still loving Bueno on my knitting blog, but is there some way to coax the icon images back down to the text line? At the moment, they’re hovering far above it. You can see this most clearly here: http://yarnaholic.wordpress.com/the-copyright-faq-for-knitters/2/ and in the table here http://yarnaholic.wordpress.com/free-knitting-patterns/
FWIW-I’ve removed the image borders by setting them to zero in the advanced image settings and image alignment is set to “none”.
-
In the Q&A page, change alignnone to alignleft, and change style to this:
style="border:none;margin-top:4px;"
In the table page, remove the baseline command, and change the opening td tags to this:
<td style="vertical-align:middle;">
Also, for the red images change style to this:
style="border:none;margin-top:3px;"
for the green/grey ones to this:
style="border:none;margin-top:-5px;" -
I started using bueno last week. Really loved the chunky header text. But now the text has changed to large stretched out helvetica and the drop down menus are below the header instead of next to it. I’m using the same computer, same browser, so not sure why there is a change in appearance.
Thanks!

@Panos-Not having much luck, unfortunately. May need to used negative numbers to pull those icons back down to the textline.
@bbblinks-I see you’ve changed themes, but before you go much further, I suggest that you run your blog by Staff (if you haven’t already done so) to make sure it’s within the ToS, as we cannot run advertising on our blogs. http://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/
