Bug: bulk changing of categories is not working
-
Bulk editing of post categories is not working. There are two distinct bugs:
1) When you open Bulk Edit, the check boxes for the posts’ existing categories are not checked
2) You go through the bulk edit process and change the categories but the changes vanish and are not saved.
This is what happens:
– Dashboard > Posts > All Posts
– check boxes to select desired posts
– Bulk Actions > Edit > Apply
– Bulk Edit tools appear
– NO CATEGORIES BOXES ARE CHECKED, EVEN THOUGH THE POSTS HAVE CATEGORIES!
– Check categories boxes as desired
– Update
– Result: The changes you just made to the categories have not been applied. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It works for me so maybe you have another issue.
In order to help you we need to know your specific computing environment details. Please work through what follows and report back.

It looks like you have multiple threads open on this issue. Please keep all future ones here rather than opening new ones.
Regarding the two issues:
1. It is not possible to use the bulk editing module to remove categories from a post.
2. The bulk addition of categories appear to be working correctly on my side per the screencast here:
-
No, I do not have multiple threads on this issue. That is incorrect. If you go back and read the posts carefully you will see they are clearly distinct matters. They both concern categories but they are entirely distinct questions.
There’s no pleasing you people: if someone asks multiple questions on a given feature in a single post, they get told to separate them. If they make separate posts, they get told to combine them. So, this is obviously based on personal preferences of the responders than any consistent principle.

@completelyriveting – Consolidating the issue into one thread is just meant to speed up response time and merge threads on the same issue (bulk changing of categories). I believe I addressed both issues in my previous reply. If not, could you let me know?
Regarding the bulk addition of categories, that’s currently working on my side. If it’s not working for you, could you try another browser just to be sure this isn’t a browser-related issue?
