Bug: Cannot edit Categories in wp-admin

    Cannot edit Categories in wp-admin. Keeps giving bogus error message:
    ‘You need a higher level of permission.
    Sorry, you are not allowed to edit this item.’
    It was previously working, but started encountering this bug a week or two ago.

    Hi there, are you logged in with an Admin or Editor account on that site? It may be obvious but I’m asking in order to eliminate this possibility.

    It might also be a bad cookie. Make sure you are using an up-to-date browser, with javascript and 3rd party cookies enabled. Try logging out of WordPressdotcom, clearing your browser cache and cookies, which will also log you out of any other website you are logged in to, and closing your browser entirely.     Yes I’m logged in.
    Windows > Chrome (updated)

    I just noticed it actually did update the name of the category, despite giving an error message twice in a row.

    FWIW – You can also edit categories in the New Dashboard at https://wordpress.com/settings/taxonomies/category/ amdphreak.wordpress.com by clicking on the three dots at the right>Edit.
