BUG: Copied posts cannot be edited/saved

    Thanks everyone for following up on this. I was afraid it was only happening to me! As a workaround at the moment, I’m able to copy a post, change the title, click “save draft” (it reverts back to the original title at this point) and then quickly pressing the “back” button to close the draft. It will ask if you want to save changes and I say no. From this point on, the new draft has saved and can be edited freely without being replaced by the original verison.

    @jamesn65 Hopefully it won’t be too much longer until there’s a fix for this issue, but thank you for sharing your way to copy a post until then.

    What blows me away is that in Nov of this year (2024), an article came out indicating WordPress is the #1 blogging site with loads of positive things to say about it. Now I ran a service desk with 40+ people reporting to me and we tracked issues and opened P1 (priority 1) calls when things broke, and my customer base was around 5000 people.

    HERE, we are looking at the #1 blogging site and we can’t figure out what broke? We can’t identify why it worked one day and stopped the next?

    Additionally, I’ll open a separate ticket for this but whenever I open the site, it comes up with an error. This is just when I go to the homepage. When I go to the dashboard, it shows we have no posts despite having over 2000.

    Like James, I’ve found a sort-of solution. It’s not optimal, but it meets the need for now.

    Is there ANY update to this issue? This has been an ongoing problem for a month now….

    Is the wordpress team still attempting to fix this problem or have they given up?

    Like the original poster… I use the “copy page” function frequently and this has been a MAJOR problem for me with no updates in weeks….

    Just adding my voice to this thread, as I am having the same problem with my titles reverting after using Copy Post. I have found that if I save, leave and return to the post, the correct title has saved, but I shouldn’t have to do that.

    Interested in seeing a solution for this bug, as I’ve also been experiencing this, and as of today, it’s still not resolved.
