bug error in deleting menu

i think there is some techniqual bug with respect to customization of theme function for setting check uncheck of the menu.
inspite of unchecking the checkbox and trying to delete the menu and contents , the number of pages are getting auto added and getting applied in the menu and appearing in the menu bar which i am tired of removing from appearance >> menu.1) the system automatically adds up the existing pages in the menu once user clicks on delete menu.
2) after removing so called auto added all pages ‘ entry from said menu ‘create menu’ button appears at the bottom (too) instead save menu and or delete menu.
3) removing all auto added pages from said menu there is no option available to save such a way and user gets into infaniate way uncessarily..request you to please fix this bug so that i could able to manage the correct menu.
let me know if u need any more details wrt to fixing the bug.

unchecking this option does not preview about removal of selected auto addsuppages in menu but continues the display as if the check box is selected.unchecking the primary navigation checkbox ideally the menu bar should also get removed which is also not happening pls help.

so no menu bar should appear in the theme.

in atuo added pages , removing either one record and clicking ‘create menu’ button available at bottom, screen gets refreshed and button turns to save menu. but on blog screen pages continue to appear inspite of deleteion and unchecking Automatically add new top-level pages to this menu.

let me know if i can attache screenshot with respect to the summary and details to avoid multiple entries here for mentioned issues.
sorry for trouble but i think this is one of the major bug in theme which is going in infaniate loop and on screen check box does not appear but data base may not getting changed for the latest selection.
pls do check and revert urgently. -
the screen should allow a situation where check , uncheck work properly..
and screen can be without menu bar which was before ideally.
so now clicking check and clicking uncheck, the checked functionality is not getting undo effect :-(and the pages available are getting auto added complusariliy ..its deletion is also not being available..
have tried by ‘test menu2’ but if no either check box is selected out of
primary navigation checkbox

in addition to that , uncheck functionality for above mentioned check box otpions is not working which ideally should work.

the said issue is intertrupting the custom menu settings functionality as well which is available to select from widget ..
pls help on priority basis to reslove the issue earliest…
1 – the main problem here is auto add pages check box though unchecked and saved it continues to display auto adding pages.
2 – 2nd ly the problem is create menu and or save menu button appears twicely at menu settings screen.
3 – custom menu , primary navigation , auto add up pages are and should work as independent functinoalities ..
4 – while from customize theme >> the settings should work and function correctly as ideally the way from independent way from under ‘appearance’ sectino.thanks a lot for reading and tolerating bugs.. :-)

In the future – it is best to post a question and wait for a response. Each time you reply to your own thread, it gets moved to the bottom of the list (they are listed in order of the last reply) so it takes longer to get an answer :)
To edit your menu, try following these steps:
– Click on My Site > Customize > Menus
– Below the option for Menu Locations you will see a list of the menus you have created. Select the one you would like to display
– Use the Add Items button to add (or remove) the items you need
– Under Menu Locations check the box for Primary Menu
– Leave the Automatically add new top-level pages to this menu box unchecked, unless you would like new pages added to this menu automatically.
– Click Save & PublishYour menu is now saved – if any of those steps do not work, can you let me know which one? :)

thank u for help. i have tried all the steps u have mentioned again.unfortunately there is a bug.
pls take a note..whatever number pf pages are created , that all are getting added in menu bar though i have not selected the checkbox Automatically add new top-level pages to this menu.
secondly i was having customized menu which i was intending to appear from widget , but that page is also getting auto added in menu bar.
thirdly when now i donot have any menu created, not selected any menu , then why the pages are getting auto added and menu is also getting created..
if any user is not willing to have menu bar , how to proceed?
pls help to resolve this issue..

mistakely before raising this issue, when i was using menu functionality .. i have once checked the check box of Automatically add new top-level pages to this menu, but after getting all pages added in the menu, i have deselected (unchecked) said checkbox and saved menu ; but unchecking checkbox and saving latest changes does not take effect like undo. and thats what bug is…
so now even i have tried many combinations without selecting checkbox “Automatically add new top-level pages to this menu”, it does not work as expected….
and if no menu would be there, then ideally menu bar should get removed which is second bug point within it..
so request you to pls resolve both.
somehow i have managed to have relfection the way i wanted but thats not the solution ;-)

This doesn’t sound like a bug :)
Your theme uses a default menu that includes all of your pages. If you remove your custom menu, the default will take over. If you want an empty menu, create an empty menu and select it under My Site > Customize > Menus.
If you want a custom menu as a widget, but not in the header, make sure the custom menu is selected in the widget and an empty menu is selected in the header.
Summary:
No selected menu = default (all pages)
Empty custom menu = no visible menu at the top of your page -

–> before i create and select the menu when there was no menu but there was pages, the screen was displaying as expected correctly.

–> yeah currently i have managed liked that..it could be possible that there seems changes in maintaining the theme details. but when previously menu was getting created it was getting removed too.
if when user applies auto add pages checkbox selected and unselect that , so thats not working and what is looks like page are defaultly getting added is problem here and not the functionality.
so i request you to kindly have work on solution with respect to this.
1) menu can be without pages , which removes the menu bar is not actually the right way .
2) if user unselects auto add pages then curresponding effect should get undo which is not happening currently but ideally it should happen , considering the default and universal standard rule of check uncheck of checkbox.
here i am trying to elaborate the suggestion enhancement could be which is ideally to be treated as bug in existing system.

i am hoping to see and test auto add check box works well for check as well as for uncheck.
after checking save if it works then , after unchecking save it should work. -
Are you saying you want the “automatically add new pages” box to add pages when you check it, and then remove pages when you uncheck it?
So if three pages were added automatically, those three pages would be taken away when you uncheck the box?
If so, that’s not what the checkbox is intended to do – while that box is checked, new pages are added to the menu. Once they are added, they are part of the menu and will remain there until removed manually.
So, to summarize a bit:
1. When you have a menu active on your site, checking the box will automatically add new pages to the menu.
2. Unchecking the box will stop adding new pages, but it will not remove anything
3. Re-checking the box will start adding new pages that are created in the future, but will not add anything created in the past.
If you find an example where one of those three things is not happening, please let us know, and provide a link where we can see the problem taking place so we can investigate it for you :)

thank you for explaining and getting the clear picture what i have tried to describe about uncheck checkbox.
before summarization what u have explained, thats different behavior for these years..being default now.
in past i had created menu with and without those checkbox which was working as i am expecting now.
but its ok, i have adjusted and found the work around solution currently.agreed for 1 and 3 point.
as per u r point 2. i will test that :-)
but ideally Unchecking the box should remove the added pages too as per technical behaviour. u may like to have this suggestion as enhancement so that it would really behave like user friendly.thanks alot for u r response..
