Bug in the interaction between the paragraph block and the image block
-
I noticed that there is a problem in the interaction between the paragraph block and the image block: whenever you try to align an image on the left or right side of the text, this doesn’t happen, the image is thrown up in an aesthetically ugly way.

Hi there!
Could you give us an example of a post or page showing that in action so we can take a closer look?
Alternatively, there is the Media & Text block that might work instead:

Thanks!

Hello there,
Many thanks for the screenshots, do you have a link to the post/page – I’d like to take a look at how the page is structured.
I suspect there could be something up with group blocks/nested blocks there.
Many thanks in advance.

A simple aligning of an image left or right of the text doesn’t add any padding on the side where they meet.
Is this because the theme uses the Site Editor (Masu)? I don’t run into this issue with older themes.

Hmm, it’s hard to say at this stage. I’d like to test and get under the hood of how the page is built.

All block themes have this problem.
I’d like to take a look at how the page is structured.

Thank you for the link! I’ve checked this post, and tested the image block alignment on a site of my own; I was able to replicate it using the Masu theme on my test site.
I don’t think this is specifically an issue with the Site Editor as such; I think it’s more theme-related so I’m opening a bug report for it. I noticed it on three themes in particular during my testing now.
I don’t have any information about when the report would be resolved however, but I could possibly suggest a temporary work-around:
- Go to Appearance > Editor (beta)
- Open up the Styles toolbar, and search for the Paragraph block in particular
- Add just a tiny bit of padding or margin to the Paragraph block, left or right.
It’s not a perfect solution, but it will add a little extra space around your paragraphs, meaning that any paragraph with an image in it will not be set flush against the image.
The guide for using Styles in the Site Editor is here:

Just to complement, the classic block with images, in these themes, is presenting the same problem.

Thanks! We’ll check those over and add to the report.
