Bug in the Sela theme
-
I setup this theme on my test blog. One of the things I added to the front page is testimonials. Testimonials have the facility to switch off likes. However the template for the front page ignores this setting and shows the like buttons anyway.
Please can you raise this issue with the theme’s developers – that the front page template (of the Sela theme) should respect the like (or not) settings in the testimonials edit screen. That is NOT to show like buttons if the like checkbox has been unchecked in the edit page for testimonials.
Cheers

Hi Don.
Thanks for the report!
There’s a site-wide setting for likes that can be found by navigating to Settings > Sharing in WP Admin. Can you scroll down to ‘WordPress.com Likes are’ and let me know which option you have checked on your test site? It’ll either be ‘On for all posts’ or ‘Turned on per post.’ The latter option needs to be checked in order for your per-post settings to be respected.
Let me know how this goes or if you have any extra questions around this.

On a test website, with the Sela theme activated, I found that setting Likes to “on for all posts” at the Sharing page overrides the setting of Likes in a testimonials editor (as siobhyb suggests). So Likes remain regardless of the setting in the editor.
However, with the setting of Likes “turned on per post” at the Sharing page, the result is that Likes are always absent, regardless of the setting at the testimonial editor. I’m using the latest Firefox browser.

@siobhyb – thanks that was very helpful actually, hadn’t thought about that setting ! … I am now able to turn off likes on testimonials, yay! :)
However … as @musicdoc1 points out, once likes are “turned on per post”, one can’t show likes on the testimonials … ie like buttons are not shown regardless of the “Show likes” setting in the editor. (I just tested it) … this applies to front page and the /testimonial page.
So my original question is answered/fixed by your answer, however @musicdoc1 seems to have found a “real” bug !
Thanks for your help both, much appreciated for you time :)
Cheers

@musicdoc1, @doncharisma: Thank you both for digging into this. I replicated the issue where you can’t enable the Like button for Testimonials on the Front Page when the setting is ‘Turned on per post.’ I’ve gone ahead to report this back to the theme’s author and will let you know what I hear back.
