Bug on wordpress blog: Displays spam/link through to spam type sties

    Hi Hope someone can help,

When a viewer looks at one of my blog posts (not the home), under the post (just above the tags) they see either flashing videos, click through links, or ‘Download” type buttons that click through to various spam type pages.

When I am logged in I can’t see this at all.

It only appears when logged out. And not just my browser. I’ve checked this on other computers.

Can anyone tell me how I can remove this spam bug?

    Thank you.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • To support the service (and keep free features free), we sometimes run advertisements, and the agreement for this has been in our terms of service since 2006.

We try hard to only run them in limited places. If you would like to completely eliminate ads from appearing on your blog, we offer the No-Ads Upgrade: http://en.support.wordpress.com/no-ads/

    ah i see.

thank you for that. I didn’t know.

I have to say, even though I have the ad-free upgrade, the more and more I read about the types of ads being published, the more I consider looking for another platofrm, for the descriptions of the type of ads indicate the “name” of WordPress will be devalued over time if the quality of the ads are SO bad.

i totally agree, and its a real shame.

Same is happening with me. Its only now on my 60th post there is this flashing ad box under my post.
Not very happy about it as the ad looks terrible and makes my site look poor. I guess I will just have to hope that its just on this one post. Or else, I’m done with WordPress.

guess I will just have to hope that its just on this one post.

I have been operating my Firefox browser for 3 weeks with AdBlock disabled. I am not at all happy with what I see and I’m not seeing advertising on just one post in blogs.

It reminds me of a time years ago when I was the editor and main autor of a professional journal – we had some sort of advertising house insert the ads and print/publish. We were constantly arguing with them over “acceptable” ads – as in what was acceptable and what wasn’t.

WP out-source the ad selling and placement, meaning that third party is not as concerned with WP’s reputation as we are! Let’s hope WP are concerned.

The demographic studies indicate the youthful set is not offended by advertising and in fact they like brand advertising don’t ya know. I’m in the demographic that hates all advertising on websites.

August 23, 2010 – Only 17 percent of Internet users find online advertising to be appealing and most people considered it to be “intrusive, repetitive, unappealing and cheap,” a study conducted by Connect Insight revealed, NewMediaAge reported. The agency explained that the differences in opinion among age groups are related to the early Internet experiences that older users had. Then advertising was used in an intrusive way, now the younger generation directly interacts with brands and companies through social media.

    • 24 percent of the 16-to 34-year-olds do think this type of advertising is appealing
    • 50 percent of those over 55 years old said they avoid websites where ads would pop up and “interrupt their online activities.” — Study: Internet users dislike online ads

I’m in the demographic that used to think advertising was unappealing and intrusive. I have been so over-exposed now that I’m in a new demographic – I HATE it!
