Bug on WordPress website

  • Unknown's avatar

    Dear WordPress.com

There seems to be some misunderstanding. I have confirmed with my boss that she did create a WordPress.com and we should be paying for a for a Business site @ $24.95.

Can someone please contact us to confirm the above and help us reclaim control of our website http://www.kchealthcoaching.com.au/
There seems to be a bug as we cannot edit anything.

My phone number is Australia [contact info redacted by staff]
    Regards
    James Tanner

  • I just checked your website http://www.kccoaching.com.au/ and it looks like it’s a self-hosted WordPress (WordPress.org) site and not a WordPress.com site.

You can learn the differences between a WordPress.com site and a self-hosted WordPress (WordPress.org) site here. https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Note that the current community forums we are on is meant for questions related to WordPress.com. If you have questions related to self-hosted WordPress (WordPress.org), you will have to ask on self-hosted WordPress (WordPress.org) community forums https://wordpress.org/support/

I suggest you to post this question on the self-hosted WordPress (WordPress.org) community forums https://wordpress.org/support/ and you will be able to get help. Also, note that you might need an account on the self-hosted WordPress (WordPress.org) community forums https://wordpress.org/support/ to do this.

You can always feel free to post any WordPress.com related questions you might have on the current community forums. Someone from the community or a staff will be able to help. Thanks.

Like I said… We should have and if not what to change to WordPress.com under a business $24.95 plan.

Can someone please help us change over to .com and help us with our bug problem…

  • Thanks for clarifying!

WordPress.com has put up a detailed help guide on moving from a self-hosted WordPress (WordPress.org) site to WordPress.com. I encourage you to read this guide https://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-from-self-hosted-wordpress-to-wordpress-com/view-all and follow the steps.

This would require your access to your self-hosted WordPress (WordPress.org) site by logging in at http://www.kchealthcoaching.com.au/wp-login.php and will also need you to access your domain’s DNS management center to change the DNS records. Are you familiar with doing these? These are mandatory for you to move your site from self-hosted WordPress (WordPress.org) to a WordPress.com.

When you decide to move, and when you move, the current community forums we’re on should answer all WordPress.com questions that you might have. Let us know if you have any questions and we will be happy to help!

    Thank you for your email.

As I have access issues due to the bug problem I mentioned, I will need help to fix the bug so I can upgrade or the other way around.

Can you have a WordPress support person call me or can I give you access to our website so you can fix our problem?

  • Please do not share confidential information, WordPress passwords with anyone here on the forums.

Given the gravity of the situation, here is what I am doing. I have added a tag “modlook” in this topic. One of the members from the WordPress.com staff/WordPress.com Happiness Engineers should be able to help you through this.

Thank you so much. Now we’re getting somewhere.

Please note we are in Australia and the time is currently 2.36pm on 27 Nov.

  • No problem! Happy to help.

  • Hi there,

The account you’re using to post here does not own any sites and have never purchased any upgrades on WordPress.com. What username was used to purchase a plan with us?

The domain, http://www.kchealthcoaching.com.au/, redirects to a site at http://www.kccoaching.com.au/, which is not hosted on WordPress.com. Neither of those domains have ever been used with any WordPress.com site or account. Instead, the site at that domain is using the open source WordPress software, and appears to be hosted at Crazydomains.com. We have no access to that site, and purchasing an upgrade from us will have no effect on that site.

If you want to use the WordPress.com Business Plan to make a new site at one of those domains, or to move your existing site over to WordPress.com, you first need to register a free WordPress.com address:

    https://wordpress.com/start/site/

Once you’ve done that, you can the purchase the Business Plan, and move your site’s content and domain over to us by following the guide here:

    https://transferto.wordpress.com/

If your boss has already created a site and purchased a plan, please ask them to contact live chat support while logged into the account they used to buy the plan and we can help them there.

In future, please tag a thread for staff immediately if a user posts contact information like the OP did in their first post in this thread, or if they post about not having access to an upgrade they bought. I’m going to ask you again to please read through our volunteers guide, and in particular when to tag threads for staff.

Noted, @kokkieh. I will work on this from now and make sure the modlook tag is used appropriately. Thank you!
