Bug report – a minor bug when showing posts in revrerse order

  • Unknown's avatar

When displaying blog posts in reverse order like this, the prompt to display more posts at the bottom of the screen still says “show older posts“.

It should either say “show newer posts” when ascending order is used or just say “show more posts” in both cases.

It is only the wording that is wrong, the button functions correctly and does show newer posts when pressed.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there!

This isn’t a bug. WordPress by default shows posts in reverse chronological order (newest at top). For returning visitors, the is very convenient since they can see the latest post without having to page down through page after page of old stuff that they have already read.

The “?order=asc” call you’ve manually added to your site URL with using a custom menu link is not a feature of WordPress.com but a simple MySQL call that will display items in a database in chronological order. Since this is not a feature supported on WordPress.com, there is no way amend the “show older posts” links.

I hope that clarifies things! Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks. It does seem like a facility that could be added easily though
