Build a new website

  Hi,
  I am very new to website and wordpress.
  I would like to understand what should I do if I would like to build a website first then direct my old website to the new one after I complete it.

  I previously engaged a website developer to build a website for me and I realized that it is built with a theme, which restricts me from editing the website. I would like to create a new website by using elementor or divi plugin and direct to the new website once done.

  Hi there,

  You can create a new WordPress.com site without pointing your domain to us, yes.

  All sites on WordPress.com get a free WordPress.com or .blog subdomain when the site is created, that functions just like any regular subdomain, and your site is fully online and accessible at that subdomain (provided you set it to public).

  So you can experiment and build your site at that free address, even upgrade the site while still using the free address, and only switch the domain over to us once you’re ready.

  Just go to https://wordpress.com/start/site/ and follow the steps, making sure you select the free example.wordpress.com address on the domains step.

  Also note that to use plugins like Elementor or third party themes like Divi on WordPress.com requires our Business Plan.
