  Hello – We are looking at doing an upgrade to our companies website, but I want to first build and see how this will work before making a commitment. This is the first time with Webdesign and dont want to switch the whole company over before we know what we are doing. Is there a way to do with without committing to an annual fee? Thanks

  Hi there,

  That is not a problem – what you could do is create a site with a free WordPress.com blog address. You are assigned a .wordpress.com or a .home.blog subdomain whenever you create a site with WordPress.com, so you can just use that as the domain as you build the site and determine whether or not this is the platform you want to use. The site starts off private until you are ready to launch it.

  

  

  Once you are done developing the site, you can make the decision to transfer the domain over:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/

  or map the existing domain:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/
