Build blog, transfer to hosting site & domain

Hey! So here’s the thing: I have an already purchased domain, and I have added it as an addon domain on my hosting plan at Site5. I wanted to build a wordpress page (through the WordPress design builder & tools), and then transfer it. I was told I could do this by the employees at Site5, by installing WordPress after I finish it (if I do it before, the site that we already have – and that we need as it is until we have the new one – will be replaced by the site in construction. I wanted to know if you agree with the Site5 advice, and to check whether all this is possible. Thank you!

  • Hi, if they support WordPress there and if you plan on using their service to host it, I’d recommend building it there rather than using our service then transferring.

The free software and our service have significant differences:

So not only would the transfer be more hassle than is necessary, you’d be learning a different system once you moved your site over to the host.

I hope that helps a bit! You’d be welcome to just host the site here if you’d like. Here’s our pricing:

Thanks! What about the site before it’s finished? Do I have the possibility to actually launch it once it’s finished and still have my original webpage in the meantime? Thanks in advance!

  • Absolutely! This is a pretty common question. You’ll wait to connect the domain until the new site is ready to go. When you connect the domain the old site is going to stop working, and instead, folks will see the new option.
