Build site before applying domain

  I would like to build my site out before transferring or forwarding the domain to it. We currently have it forwarding to an existing site, and do not want to disturb that until the new one is finished.

  Hello!

  That’s totally possible. You can start by creating your new site here: https://wordpress.com/start

  Then when you’re finished, either transfer your domain to WordPress.com: https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/

  Or map your domain to point to your new site: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

  Note that you will need an upgraded WordPress.com plan for either of these options: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

  But you can go ahead and build out your site on the Free plan before upgrading and transferring/mapping your domain.
