building a site without interrupting the live site?

  I want to build a new site for one thats already live can i do this without interrupting it

  What do you you mean by “build a new site for” an existent site? If you mean to duplicate or clone and existent site, then see the following topics:

  The duplicate site needn’t be connected to the original, might even be created in another account, and it may be set on private (see Privacy Settings).
