Building a store for my service business
-
Hi, I run a local service business and want to add a store to my site, but I don’t want to accept payments, I just want to give them a quote.
So, for example, say they want a home alarm system, they pick which model they want and then they get to choose how many PIR’s they want and any extras they may like, and my quote keeps updating or I email them the quote.
Is this possible with plugins?
Thanks.

Hi there!
There are many plugins that will let you add those features to your site. Note that in order to use plugins on a WordPress.com site, you will want to upgrade to the WordPress.com Business plan. Learn more about our plans and pricing here: https://wordpress.com/pricing
The best plugin we recommend for setting up an online store is WooCommerce. It lets you build a full-fledged e-commerce site. However, as you mentioned that you don’t want to accept payments, perhaps you can use the Form block on your site?
You can learn more about the Form block here: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/form-block/
What I’m thinking is, you can create different pages for different home alarm systems, and then on those pages, you add form blocks, with options like drop-down menus or checkboxes that visitors can use to pick which model and options they want. When they submit the form, it will send you an email with all of their selections. You can then reply to the email with your quote.
I hope that makes sense! If the Form block doesn’t meet your requirements, you can always use third-party form builder plugins. There are many plugins that give you advanced form-building tools. So feel free to check them out here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/search/form/
Hope that helps!
