Building a website

  I am trying to figure out the best way to build a website using wordpress.com. I have downloaded 3.0.1 but from what
  i have read i may need to download something else. Or can I build a site using this platform? Can anybody please point me in the right direction?

  and if you want to self-host why not choose a host that will do it really easily for you?

  It is very easy to install WordPress on all those (I know, I use one of them)
