  I’m new to all this and it’s quite overwhelming. Is there someone that can help me with a step-by-step process?

  What a lot of people call a “web site” is sort of static with a lot of Pages and not Posts – – or do what I do – I just tell people that I have a web site and give them the URL – the heck with fancy labels

  Perhaps you’d like to begin by describing what kind of website you’d like, or by choosing a theme, from the WordPress.com Theme Showcase, that resembles what you envision.

  I am an author, and all I want is a website to promote my books, and provide space for reviews and comments. Very, very simple.

  Make a PAGE – “About the Author” short bio or something

  Make some POSTS – for the reviews and such, a bit about your latest book or such – with Posts you can have Categories and Tags to help sort your content and tell search engines how you want your site indexed

  Any theme here will do what you want – what you want to do is relatively basic

  But any new tool or system takes a bit of time to learn

  Thank you for your help, auxclass, but I don’t know how to make a post, or what “Tags” mean, or what “site indexing” means. I need someone to sit with me and go through it step-by-tiny-step. I wish WordPress had a contact number where I could speak with someone directly. I’ve contacted another site called “HostBaby” where I spoke to someone on the phone. They are very, very, helpful. So I may switch my site to them. But thanks again for your help

  As with anything, there is a bit of a learning curve, your word processing learning curve was probably a long time back – the WordPress software is fairly easy for the basic tasks – but it takes a bit of practice
