building a website close to drop shipping, advices on plugins needed.

    Hey,

We’re building a website that would list products (loaded from a csv file) from different local small suppliers. We’d like to show these products and be able to apply filters depending on different criteria. We thought we could use Woocommerce for this.

The customer could then add the products in its basket. when it is time to check out, we wouldn’t ask for a payment. What we are looking for is to forward the orders to the different suppliers. We looked at “WooCommerce Dropshipping” plugin for this part.

    As an example:

the list contains products A from supplier X, product B from supplier Y, and product C from supplier Z.

The customer adds products A, B and C. At check out, we do not take any payment, but we send a mail to Supplier X that this customer is placing an order to him for product A, and similar emails would be sent to suppliers Y and Z for their respective products B and C.

Since there are no payments that will take place at the checkout, are these plugins the right building blocks to start with?

  • Hello –

On WordPress.com’s managed hosting you can build this site using WooCommerce as part of our business or ecommerce hosting plan.

If you’d prefer to have assistance with building it then please refer to our specialized team who does this via https://builtbywp.com/

There are considerable advantages to using our managed hosting environment. In addition to the best hosting quality and speed you also can spend more time on your business.

On WordPress.com our team offers a managed hosting environment. This means that we handle all the back end details of the site. Things like back ups, updates, security, spam, seo, ssl, mobile optimization, top notch hosting specs, and sorting out any errors or bugs that pop up along the way. When you run a stand alone WordPress installation, like what y’all have set up, then all of those details fall on to you – so instead of being able to focus on content you spend a ton of time and frustration fixing these sort of issues.
