-
My domain name is hosted elsewhere but I want to create a new website using WordPress using the same URL. Can I do this easily with out changing hosting and will the WordPress website be automatically https/SSL secure as my current website shows ‘non secure’ .

Hi there,
Can I do this easily with out changing hosting
No, you cannot. If you create a new site with us, we will host that site instead of your current hosting provider. But you can set up a site with us on the free WordPress.com address we provide while your current site stays online. Then you only switch your domain to us once you’re ready.
Or do you mean you want to change your site to use the open source WordPress software, rather than creating a site hosted on WordPress.com? If that’s what you mean, we cannot help you here – this forum provides support for sites on WordPress.com hosting, not for the open source WordPress software.
For help with the WordPress software, please ask at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
will the WordPress website be automatically https/SSL secure as my current website shows ‘non secure’
If you create a new site hosted with us on WordPress.com, it will have SSL automatically – we provide SSL for free for all sites hosted on our servers.
If you make a site using the open source WordPress software, you’ll need to speak to your hosting provider to find out their process for adding SSL, as that’s configured by your host, not determined by the software.
