Building website on WordPress

Do I have to map my domain with WP hosting before I am going to build my website on WP? Is it a must to do? Can I do a domain mapping later?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

What exactly do you mean WP?
There are two and they are very different. WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support forums. Read the differences here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
What exactly do you mean by “build my website”?
WordPress.WordPress is a turnkey blogging platform. Every day we get new people who do not understand that a blog is a website posting here. This is all semantics and blog structure.
A blog is a post based website designed for interactive communication. As the posts are frequently updated and appear on the front page of the site it’s very attractive to search engines.
What most people call a website is merely a page based site that functions as a one way noticeboard. As the structure is page based and as pages are for static content that rarely changes, and as pages do not have RSS feeds it is not as attractive to search engines as a post based blog structured site is.
Any WordPress blog can be restructured from being post based to being page based – no upgrade required. For greater clarity read > http://en.support.wordpress.com/using-wordpress-to-create-a-website/
The only themes we can use on WordPress.com blogs like your blog are licensed and adapted to run on our multiuser software the themes are found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and in your dashboard at > Appearance > Themes
There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs for security reasons and we cannot:
upload any third party themes,
create child themes,
create our own themes,
edit templates,
create own own layouts,
or use stylesheets from other themes.Relevant support docs:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/You cannot upload any third party themes into a WordPress.COM hosted blog so be clear on that. There is no upgrade you can purchase here that changes that reality.
WordPress.org offers free software that you can install on a web server. You can create themes, upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, and edit the database, etc. If you want FTP access and to install plugins or third party themes into a site then you will have to hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up your own WordPress.org install.

You can do domain mapping later – you can build your site with the basic blog if you want – but if you want some type of branding then the sooner you map the better – but many people build the site then buy and map a custom domain name later

Your WordPress.com blog comes with a free address, like example.wordpress.com. You can get rid of the .wordpress.com part and use a custom domain name instead, like example.com. Adding a domain is a paid upgrade. See here http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/

I can’t find the “plugin” or “addon” feature in my WP dashboard. Is this a Premium based feature only?

That’s an unrelated question. We find it very confusing and disrespectful to the original poster when bloggers post off-topic into existing threads. When threads are tagged for staff with modlook in the sidebar like this one and you post into them you move the timsetamp forward and the original poster has to wait longer for Staff help. Please use this link to copy and paste your question into a new thread and we will gladly answer question there. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/?new=1
