Building website without a domain

  I’m wondering if it’s possible to begin building a website before registering it with a domain? I’m currently transferring a website from one provider to WordPress and need the current one to remain live as I build. Thanks!

  Create a free site with a .wordpress.com subdomain. Upgrade to a paid plan to transfer/map your domain later.
