Built-in functionality suggestion: gigpress plugin

I think gigpress is a “must have” plugin for websites of musicians and other performers. It’s very convenient for listing gigs or any other events (with dates, venue information, links for ticket sales etc). Could the plugin or something similar be included in wordpress.com functionality? (it seems that the only related plugin is using eventbrite, but all gigs are not suitable for that service). Finding a good way to list events (=gigs) is somewhat of a deal-breaker in deciding whether I can use wordpress.com or not.

Gigpress can be downloaded from gigpress.com

I’m sorry but the requests made here are not instantly picked up and acted on by Staff, most are never acted upon at all, so I do not recommend holding your breath.

If you want FTP access and need to install plugins into a site then you will have to hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up your own WordPress.org install.

WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and have different logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support forums http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Have you looked at the Eventbrite theme and the Eventbrite widget?

Not holding my breath, but dared to wish, as suggestions to this forum topic are encouraged on the wordpress.com plugin support page

I’ve already set up a couple of sites that are using gigpress. Just thought that having the same functionality on wordpress.com would provide a great easy way of doing simple pages for beginning artists.

I had a quick look at the eventbrite widget, but I’d like to keep everything “in one place” (just a gig listing on wordpress, not events on a system designed for online ticket sales – striving musicians may often want to list free small scale gigs).

It takes several thousand dollars to vet a Plugin and turn it into a Widget (no Plugin’s allowed here) – it’s a security and reliability issue – so the staff want to make sure that a feature will be used by many people – the other option for the staff would be to make a theme for musicians and build gig whatever into it

but yes this was the correct place to pitch the idea
