Buing a theme from wordpress.com vs from developer

  If I were to buy a theme called Collective from WordPress.com, can I then download the theme also from the developers site (it includes PSD file)? Or if I buy the theme from the developer, can I somehow activate it in WordPress.com (It’s a premium theme in wp.com)?
  Also, are there any differences between the theme if it is bought via WordPress.com?
  I know you can’t edit the theme files. =)
  (I usually build sites with WordPress custom install from wordpress.org)

  Hi jonsho,

  WordPress.com themes are separate purchases from a developer’s WordPress.org themes. So no, you won’t be able to purchase one, and activate it at the other.
