Bulk adding tags to multiple blog posts

    Hello. I am quite familiar with adding tags to my blog posts.

    But now after having published over 150 posts, I’d like to add one additional tag to all of my published post regarding the number of puzzle pieces for each puzzle. For example a tag of “500 pieces” or “750 pieces.”

    Is there a way I can create a brand new tag and then add that newly created tag to multiple already published blog posts at once?

    I visited the “tags” section on my dashboard/under-the-post-section but didn’t see a way to do this.

    Hi there – Great question. This will break out into two actions.

    Action 1: Create the new tag, which you can do from here: https://wordpress.com/settings/taxonomies/post_tag/hurrayforpuzzlesblog.wordpress.com

    Action 2: Now that the new tag exists, you can “bulk edit” posts using the method I describe below.

    First, go to your Posts “default” view: https://wordpress.com/posts/hurrayforpuzzlesblog.wordpress.com

    One in your default view, find “View” in the upper-right corner, click it, and choose “Classic view” within like this example.

    From here we’ll use the example of the “500 pieces” tag.

    Once you are in the Classic view, the first thing you will do is select each of the posts in that view that you want to add the “500 pieces” tag to. Like this example. Once you have selected the posts, choose the drop down above the posts which says “Bulk actions” and select the “Edit” option right here.

    Now click “Apply” (which you may need to click twice). You should see a box appear with three columns. In the left column should be all post titles you selected, In the middle the Categories those posts are in, and on the right a big Tag box with post meta selectors below.

    If you enter the tag “500 pieces” into the Tag box and click the blue “Update” button in the lower-left like this example that should apply that tag to each of those posts all at once. :)

    Give that a try and let us know if it does not go as I’ve described or as you expected.
