Add topic to favorites
I have a lot of original content (at present I am using test contents only, not the real one) but I need to upload all of them to a single site. I tried to import content but it has been running import for the last 10 hours but not a single page got created. Could you please help?

Hi there, are you trying to import to carsamerican.wordpress.com or a different site?

Where are you importing from and how big is the file?

Once we have that info we’ll be able to help further.

Hello Jennifer, the file I uploaded was approx 14 MB, it got uploaded without any problem and then confirmed that it was ready to import but it’s still showing the process icon after a very long time and I can neither terminate nor see any progress, even though it won’t allow me to upload any file as the import link is only showing the “process”.

Hi there, I’ve tagged this for Staff to assist in clearing out the current import so you can try again.

The limit for import files is around 15MB. Is it possible for you to break down your export file into smaller chunks and then import each separately?

I’ve reset the importer on your site again.

How many comments do you have in your import files? An unusually high comments to post ratio can sometimes cause the importer to stall, even if the file is small enough. Deleting any low-quality or spammy comments and making a new export file should help with that.

Thanks Kokkieh, I have no comment at all in the file, in fact commenting is disabled for the time being.

Also I am wondering how to replace old posts after offline modification as uploading same file is not taking any effect on the old post.

It’d be great if I could replace old posts with their modified version (by uploading WXR xml file).

If a post already exists on the site there’s no way to re-import it – the importer checks for the post ID and if it already exists, it will skip that post, even if it’s modified in the new import file.

The only way to re-import a post to the site is to delete the post, and then also delete it from Trash so it no longer exists in the site’s database at all. Only them will it import again.

Also, once a staff member has replied to a thread you don’t need to add the modlook tag again – once we reply to a thread we automatically see all future replies in that thread :)
