Bushwick theme customization question

  • Unknown's avatar

I am using the Bushwick theme and wanted to know if there is a way to get the featured image of a single page to rotate between a collection of images? Right now if I want to display different images I have to do it manually and I would LOVE to say “here is the library of images I want you to rotate through for this page”.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Hi there,

There isn’t a way to have a set of featured images used just for a single page, but you can do that with the entire site! To get started, you can open the theme Customizer by going to your My Blogs page. Just click the Customize link below your blog’s title there.

In the Customizer, you can open the Header section to upload your collection of images. You can use the “Add New Image” to add a new image to the collection. Then, when you’re ready, you can click on “Randomize uploaded headers.” Click the Save button at the bottom of the Customizer when you’re done.

That’s it! After that, each time you load a page on your blog you’ll see one of those header images selected at random. Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

    Thanks rachelmcr!

You answered my question and then some! I already asked this in another submission but since I have your ear I hope you don’t mind me doubling down for your help.

When I view the header on my phone it seems to really skewer the picture I had setup that looks good on tablet or desktop devices. Is there anyway through css code or options I could tell wordpress to clip the image to a certain area so that it might look better?

Thanks again for your help, I really appreciate it.

    Howdy!

I noticed your open thread over here with the same question:

    https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/i-want-to-customize-the-responsiveness-of-my-headers?replies=1

Just to keep things organized, I figured I would answer in this thread to prevent confusion. I’ll be closing that other thread so please keep any additional correspondence here!

Regarding the header image, the theme automatically decides where it’s going to clip the header image for mobile layouts. If you’re looking for a CSS code to alter this, I would recommend posting to the CSS Customizations forum here:

    https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization

We have some CSS gurus that will give you the best advice possible. My hesitation is that any CSS code for this may affect how the site content displays.

Alternatively, you could experiment with another theme that has the header image situated at the top of the page rather than in a sidebar. Would you be open to giving that a try?

    Hey jeremyduvall,

Sorry for adding to the chaos of the forums, I will keep it in one thread next time.

I recently switched to Bushwick from another theme. I would be willing to switch but I have spent a lot of time developing content to fit the current theme and would hate to redo it all to another theme’s parameters, hence why I ask if the WP gang knew some css code I could try to tweak this little style problem I am having. I will take a look at the link you provided and try to immerse myself in all that is css.

Thank you both for your help.

Not a problem, and I completely understand! The CSS Customizations Forum is going to be the best place to figure out the best CSS code to customize the look of your header on mobile devices. Let me know if you need anything else!
