    Hi there, I am setting up a new business and was wondering if I can use wordpress as the basis of a website. I would hope to be able to link the site to paypal and allow people to book courses that I advertise on the website. Can you please suggest the best wordpress site to use? Thanks so much

    Hi – congratulations on setting up a new business :)

    You can certainly set up a business website using WordPress.com. At this point, if you do not know the difference between sites hosted on WordPress.com and self-hosted sites (WordPress.org), please visit this page.

    Setting up a business site on WordPress.com is very simple and easy, but at the same time you won’t be able to utilize some of the more advanced features offered by WordPress.org (such as setting up an online store on your site)

    If you would like to start small and have a simple website that describes your business and link to a PayPal page, you can do that here on WordPress.com.

    If you’d like something more complex and heavy on features, I’d suggest using a self-hosted site. The part about people booking courses through your site is much easier to accomplish using a self-hosted site.

    Thank you very much for your prompt and thorough response.

    I have spent a little bit of time setting up the fully-hosted version (.com). If I continue with this for a while, is it possible then to transfer over to the .org version so that I can include class scheduling on my website?

    Yes, you can move to a self-hosted site whenever you see fit. You can carry over all the content from your site here on WordPress.com and continue adding features on your self-hosted site.
