Business Plan

If I upgrade to the business plan and pay monthly while I’m developing the site and then cancel the subscription later on, will everything that was developed remain on the site even if the plan I downgraded to doesn’t support everything that was developed. (example: If I use plugins to create a login page, once created if I am no longer subscribed to the business plan will that page that required the plugins to develop be operable?

Hi there,
Thanks for reaching out!
When you downgrade from the Business plan, all Business plan features would be removed.
This means that when you downgrade, the downgrade will remove all plugins and custom themes and any functionality or customizations that they added to the site. You will no longer be able to add plugins, custom themes, or custom code like iframes to this site unless you upgrade again in the future.
It sounds like you might be looking to create a membership site. Can you tell me a bit more about what you are looking to set up? I would be happy to look at some solutions here for you.
I hope that helps! If I can clarify anything at all, please let me know.

Hi, yes I am. So, to make sure I understand correctly, if I were to create a membership site to keep all of the plugins and other customizations that require the business plan, I would need to maintain that higher level plan for as long as I want my site to be live and functioning with those features?

Yes, that is exactly correct.
I did want to share some information about different membership options here with you. I recommend taking a look here:

Let me know if you have any questions!

I see the free plan includes password protected pages. For this, would a user enter a password for each individual protected page, vs a membership they would login once and can access all the material that is for members only?
Thank you for all your help!

When using password protected pages a user would need to know the password and enter that before being able to load that particular page. Yes, you can do this on a free WordPress.com plan.
Can you tell us more about the content you plan to create and how you plan to limit access? I think that will give us a better idea of your goals. Or, do you have an example of a site that works similar to how you’d like to set your own up?

I’m hoping to have some information availavle to the public/accessible to anyone who goes to the website and then other information that can only be seen by those who login.
I’m assuming for password protected pages each page has its own password/ you have to type it in each time you enter a new password protected page?

Hi there,

Yes, that is correct. You can assign a password to each individual page you want protected:

That is one way to get pages behind a login. I also agree that @mishivee’s suggestion of member login would work.

That way, you can put anything you want protected behind that login rather than individual pages. Unless you want each page to have a different password.
Let us know if you have any questions. Thanks!
