    hi I’m thinking of really going for it on my blog. if i upgrade can I advertise products and services of my choice, whereby, I can place the codes on the site wherever i choose?

    I don’t think you can do that. Once you upgrade to Business or Premium plans, you will be getting access to the WordAds program and can set up advertising on your sites immediately. This program features ads from external ad networks such as Google, Facebook, AOL, and more. You can learn more about WordAds here.

    Advertisements from third-party ad networks like Google AdSense, OpenX, Lijit, BuySellAds, and Vibrant Media are not allowed on WordPress.com. If you’d like to run these types of ads on your blog, you may wish to try a self-hosted WordPress installation.
