Business Plan

If I wanted to upgrade to the business plan and build my website myself with know knowledge at all – beginner. Is this a platform that can easily be learned then pay a professional, so that I’m in control and can do this at my own pace and learn. Im not interested in the free website and developing one for a challenge and for my business, honest feedback for the complexity or ease to do it? How has WordPress’ support and live chat been? Thanks :)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The Business Plan is very similar to a self-hosted WordPress installation in that you can make modifications and add plugins and use themes from outside of WordPress.com.

Can you explain a bit more about what you are going to be doing with your site (e-commerce, etc.) and we can then see what would be the best option for you.

Coming from a non tech background it’s quite overwhelming with so much information to try and get your head around haha.

Thankyou ‘thesacredpath’. Theres this website called WP for beginners and they recommend self hosting via wordpress.org not .com. Im confused already haha. Please google that website and tell me your thoughts.

My website would be to advertise my business in management consultancy and business development and also to connect various business or companys that I endorse by a click straight to their website. I wish to have other ads to generate income also. I also wish to have paypal or credit card ability if payment or deposits or purchases are advertised. Or a small online shop. But the online shop is not the focus but I want the ability to ad-hoc sell things if wanting too. Cheers

    Hi there,

Totally understand that starting a website can sometimes be a lot to take in but it sounds like you’re off to a good start.

Prior to last year, WordPress.com did not support the use of plugins and themes from outside our network. This lead to some service providers and sites recommending running a self-hosted WordPress.org site.

Whether you run WordPress here with us or with another provider based on your description of your goals it is possible to create a site like that with WordPress.

We have put together this guide for helping you choose which is the best method for using WordPress for you:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org
