Business Pro Plan – HTTP or HTTPS
-
Hi,
I am quite seriously interested in going for a Business/Premium Plan; however, have couple of BASIC questions that I am looking for answers. The questions are:
1. When we go Pro, will our Site remain on HTTPS or will it be on HTTP. If it is change to HTTP- can we BUY the HTTPS.
2. Plugins like Yoast can be added. I am using Yoast Premium Plugin and have found its REDIRECT functionality quite useful.
I have other questions as well because I am presently hosting my site on Blue Host that I also like to migrate to Word Press. All in all, I am looking forward to purchasing 2-3 Pro Packages.
Would appreciate a prompt reply.

Hi there,
1. https is available on all sites hosted on WordPressdotcom, free and upgraded.
2. No additional plugins will be available to you under the Premium Plan. The Business Plan includes access to the Google Analytics plugin, but no other plugins. You don’t need Yoast here as WordPressdotcom is already highly optimized for search engines. https://en.support.wordpress.com/seo/You’ll want to check out this feature comparison chart of the plans as well. https://wordpress.com/plans/ Scroll down a little bit to see more information.
Happy to answer any other question you may have.

Thanks Jennifer,
Really Appreciate your prompt reply.
However, I am still a bit confused: how we are going to redirect our broken links (in the absence of Yoast or any other redirection plugin)?
Secondly, since the Business Plan cost $299 but offer unlimited premium themes- I have already short listed a few such as BLOG, Business Identity for my future site(s). So, with all these features and the support of WordPress, I wonder: WHY PEOPLE USE OTHER DOMAIN HOST for instance I am using the best available Cloud Pro (whatsoever!) Package of Blue Host with cloud flare CDN. Although, my package includes HTTPS and Domain IP; however, the HTTPS version does not work properly.
Maybe people are using other Domain Hosts for flexibility (they can put as many plugins as per their need- I have purchased 50-60 plugins; however, now I am using only a handful of plugins like Yoast Premium and Yoast Local). My present website’s score on GTMETRIX are 98 and 96 for Page Speed and YSlow; however, it took an herculean effort to get to that.
I think the kind of BLOG/Website I require, seems to be perfectly fit for: what word press offers.
I am using Alexa Pro, can we use Alexa’s tracking code on Word Press website hosted on Word Press? Moreover, I may also be using MOZ and maybe SEMRUSH as well.

my present website is http://www.silverliningconsultants.net/
I would love to migrate it to Word Press; however, I am afraid in doing so: I may lose Search Traffic, Alexa’s Rank and GTMETRIX Page Speed.
Alternatively, I may create a new blog by the name of http://www.ukvisaconsultants.com but would double my costs i.e. maintaining two websites for the same purpose.

how we are going to redirect our broken links (in the absence of Yoast or any other redirection plugin
What broken links do you want to redirect? If you are already using the self-hosted WordPress software at Bluehost, and your site’s permalink structure matches our permalink structure on WordPress.com (domain/page-slug for pages and domain/date/post-slug for posts), if you import your content here and still use the same domain as you did at Bluehost you won’t need any redirects, as the permalinks for your content won’t change.
Redirects only become an issue if your site’s permalink structure doesn’t match or if you change your domain.
Likewise your search ranking should be unaffected if the same content still exists at the same links. Changing hosts don’t require re-indexing by search engines in most cases, only changing URLs.
I wonder: WHY PEOPLE USE OTHER DOMAIN HOST
Because WordPress.com does not offer what everyone needs. It’s not possible to install custom themes or plugins here, we don’t allow any JavaScript code and have some restrictions on the types of HTML code that can be used here. Additionally, it’s not possible to edit your site’s headers or source files on WordPress.com and it’s not possible to customize the permalink structure of the site. There are many legitimate reasons why someone would want to do any of those things, and for those people the self-hosted version of WordPress, called WordPress.org, is a better fit.
We also have restrictions on the types of content that is allowed on WordPress.com and on the ways that one can monetise a site. Other web hosts might not have these restrictions.
Monetize Your Site
User Guidelinescan we use Alexa’s tracking code on Word Press website hosted on Word Press? Moreover, I may also be using MOZ and maybe SEMRUSH as well.
The only third-party analytics provider we officially support is Google Analytics. Other services might work, depending on the way they track traffic on your site, but we don’t make any guarantees. Specifically, if a service requires you to upload an html file to your site or to add meta tags to your site headers, they won’t work here. Services that only require a tracking pixel to appear somewhere on your site should work – you can add that pixel using a text widget in any widget area that’s visible on your site at all times.
I think that covers all your questions, but let me know if I missed anything.

Thanks Kokkiek,
Really appreciate your detailed reply.
Here I would like to mention that my Site is giving 404 errors on daily basis because of regular addition/deletion/changing in the Permalink Structure/Categories etc. So for 404 errors I am using Yoast nearly every other day.
Secondly, I am using Alexa Pro, which category mentions on its website that for site hosted on wordpress.com – one need to talk to admin of wordpress.com for inserting the Java Script of Alexa.
Although, MOZ does not have any such requirement but Alexa has – and after subscribing to Alexa my site is performing better- in overall results.
Although, still my first preference is wordpress.com, but…………….if not my business blog………..I might take a business plan for my personal leisure…….maybe then. I like the concept of using unlimited premium themes………and hassle free blogging……….

It sounds like that for your Business site self-hosted might be the better option :)
Keep in mind that the plan has a 30 day refund, so if you want you can try it out and experiment with some themes. If you then decide on a specific theme you have the option to cancel the plan for a full refund and buy the specific theme instead.
Premium theme purchases are for the lifetime of the blog, so you only need to pay for an individual theme once.

Thanks again. Really appreciate your concern.
Would be glad to become a Business Pro Customer of wordpress.com in future- if not for now.

Hello Happiness Engineers,
Please refer my preceding communications. During the last 20 days I have been able to enable HTTPS on my site – https://www.silverliningconsultants.net/However, I have decided to shift my site to wordpress.com in 2-3 steps. The reason for extending the migration process into a few steps is due to the fact that my site https://www.silverliningconsultants.net/ is giving 404 errors on regular basis and as of today the Google Search Console is giving 162 No Found errors. Since I have Yoast Premium installed and I could Redirect these 404 errors.
In the first step, I would like to map a Sub-domain “ukvisarefusals” to my existing domain hosted at Blue Host (https://ukvisarefusals.silverliningconsultants.net). I have already read the details of mapping a sub domain. However, would appreciate your guidance.
Since I already have a Blog on Blogspot https://ukvisarefusals.blogspot.com/ whose contents (alongside some of the contents of my Main Site https://www.silverliningconsultants.net) I have already imported, which you could see on my https://ukvisaconsultants.wordpress.com/ So the question is: Is there anyway to put Rel= Canonical on the future sub domain that the contents on the Blogspot is Secondary Contents of the same (duplicate contents) on the future sub-domain.
In order to keep the things focused, I am not going any further in this post regarding my future plan and awaiting an answer.

I would like to add that my main Domain on WordPress.com would be http://www.silverliningconsultants.net and I already have Google Email/Apps for work for up-to 50 emails for @silverliningconsultants.net
I would be adding 3-5 sub-domains such as ukvisarefusals, autraliaimmigration, studyinaustralia etc. So would the provision of sub domains will be covered in my Business Pro Subscription i.e. I will be paying for One Hosting Subscription i.e. $299/- per year and separately for the 3-5 sub-domains @ $13 per year per sub-domain.
I am planning to use One Theme for the Main Domain and a Separate Theme for each of the sub-domains.
Please also guide in the aforesaid as well.
Regards

Will the subdomains be mapped to sites on WordPress.com or sites somewhere else? For sites hosted on WordPress.com you’ll need a mapping upgrade for each subdomain, even if you’re mapping them all to the same WordPress.com site.
I am planning to use One Theme for the Main Domain and a Separate Theme for each of the sub-domains.
Based on this it sounds like separate sites? Then you’ll need a mapping upgrade for each site. Also note that Premium Themes are purchased per site, so if you want to use the same premium theme on multiple sites you need to purchase it for each site separately.
So the question is: Is there anyway to put Rel= Canonical on the future sub domain that the contents on the Blogspot is Secondary Contents of the same (duplicate contents) on the future sub-domain.
There is not, though if you add the subdomain as a property in Google Search Console you might be able to do it there.
-
I am not really clear about the Sub-domains. For instance my Main Site is https://www.silverliningconsultants.net and I will be adding two sub-domains to it: https://ukvisarefusals.silverliningconsultants.net and https://uk-visa-immigration.silverliningconsultants.net
And I will be HOSTING and Managing the Main Domain as well as the Sub-Domains on WORDPRESS.COM then according to What I have gathered from your explanation: I will be paying for 3 Sites i.e. 3X$299.Secondly, I checked with Google: I can’t put rel= canonical on google search console.
Thirdly, I have around 6,000+ redirects on my Main Site in the PHP. If I will be shifting my Main Site to WordPress.com then will there be 6,000+ 404 errors or not.
The fact that wordpress.com is quite silent about Redirects and Rel= Canonical are the main reasons of NOT making a decision so far.

And I really forgot (as I am not in good health presently) to thank you for your reply Kokkieh.

If each subdomain is attached to a different site, and you want Business on each site, then you will need to buy it for each site, yes.
Secondly, I checked with Google: I can’t put rel= canonical on google search console.
Then you won’t be able to do it, as it’s not possible to add that to the headers here.
Thirdly, I have around 6,000+ redirects on my Main Site in the PHP. If I will be shifting my Main Site to WordPress.com then will there be 6,000+ 404 errors or not.
There will be no way to add those redirects here, as it’s not possible to edit the PHP files for your site on WordPress.com and you can’t install plugins to redirect links either.
As I said in an earlier reply, a self-hosted site might be a better fit for you, as you’ll have more control on that version of WordPress. Pressable offers a plan at about the same cost as Business that gives you five sites where you can then connect domains and subdomains to each site, and you’ll have FTP access to make changes to the PHP files as needed.
