Business upgrade but “copy site” function is not there – why
-
II am a teacher who needs to keep the current site with Summer work to deal with a problem student. I need to clone the site to prep for Fall term which begins in 2 days. I was told by the AI chat “person” to upgrade to Business for the month to be able to access the “copy site” function. I paid for the upgrade, I followed WordPress tutorial instructions, and there is no “copy site” function. I am in a panic – because – I need to clone asap – or to laboriously create a new site from scratch. I cannot seem to reach a human person or a “happiness” engineer. Very anxious as to what is going on and frustrated at the run around.
I am looking for an explanation as to why the function is not appearing after WordPress took my money.
And how to proceed.
Thank you.

This post lists the wrong website that I need help with.
The real site is: https://mcrels110.wordpress.com/
Thank you.

https://mcrels110.wordpress.com/ is a site on the Free Plan, so you don’t have the features of a Business Plan.
Just wait untill a Staff member is online.

Thank you for your help. Actually – I updated the site to a Business plan – I have a receipt and on my list of sites – it shows on my list as Business plan.
My biggest concern is (1) the time lag between purchasing the upgrade (done) and the access to the function of “copy site” that comes with the upgrade – the AI chat entity said there maybe a delay for unspecified length and for unspecified reasons; and (2) if my access does not change – how to get a refund of the 40 dollars due to my inability to copy / clone site – which was my sole reason for the upgrade.

This is the screenshot from my sites list. I have other sites that are free sites. This site – according to my receipt and my list of sites – is registered as “Business.”

Am I reading the support doc correctly? You need a site with a Business plan for the site you are copying and another Business plan for the site the copy goes to??
As a website owner, you can clone your entire WordPress.com site, including posts, pages, themes, plugins, and uploads, to create a new site. This guide will show you how to create a copy of your WordPress.com website. Eligibility This feature is available on sites with the WordPress.com Business plan with hosting features activated. For security purposes, only the site owner can copy -
Hello @themagicrobot,
That’s right. If you want to “copy” a site with business plan features, you would need to ensure that you have another business plan site (even if it’s empty) ready to import that site into. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have the right set-up to run plugins and the extra things you can do with the original site.
