Button 2 theme features aren't working

    Hello! I am using Button 2 theme for my blog. However I am watching closely some features of the theme which should work in the theme aren’t working.

    1. The indent on the corners of pics and graphics aren’t working.
    2. The “Read More” tag isn’t showing where I want to put it.
    3. Sometimes I can’t post links too.

    Why is this happening and I should I get rid of the difficulties? Please help.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

    “1. The indent on the corners of pics and graphics aren’t working.”

    Those accents only appear on featured images, and featured images, when set on posts, are only displayed on the blog page and archives pages, according to the Button 2 theme guide, which says:

    Button 2 supports Featured Images on your main blog and archive pages, and automatically adds detailed accents at the corners for a sweet, vintage look…

    “2. The “Read More” tag isn’t showing where I want to put it.”

    Have you followed the instructions in the More Tag support page? Can you provide an example of where and how the tag is failing on your site?

    “3. Sometimes I can’t post links too.”

    What do you mean “post links?” And what exactly happens when your attempt fails?

    Re: #1 again…

    See the Featured Images support page.

    Despite the passage from the Button 2 theme guide that I quoted above which suggests that featured images only display on the “main blog and archives pages,” they may also be displayed on single posts and pages, as long as the corresponding boxes (those labelled “Display on single posts,” and “Display on pages”) are checked at Customize > Content Options > Featured Images, and (in the case of posts), presumably, if the box labelled “Automatically use first image in post” is unchecked.

    Your blog and archives pages aren’t displaying featured images. This suggests that either featured images are not set on the posts, or the appropriate boxes aren’t checked at Customize > Content Options > Featured Images.

    @bookwonderlandofsubinita,

    Sorry, I had previously missed the Formatting Images section of the Button 2 theme guide which says:

    Button 2 includes a special style for images. Adding a class of fancy to images in your posts or pages will display the image with a fancy corner treatment like the one automatically used for Featured Images. See examples and instructions on the demo site.

    The link goes to a page in the Button 2 demo titled Fancy Image Corners, which provides instructions for customizing image HTML codes of images inserted into posts and pages in a way that adds fancy corners to the images.

  • @bookwonderlandofsubinita do you still need help with items 2 and 3? If so can you send links to examples?

    And, nice work @musicdoc1 . I fixed the tag for you & removed the second copy of that quote.

    @supernovia,

    Thanks! : -)
    One thing I’d like to draw your attention to is that the description in the Featured Images section of the Button 2 theme guide might be misleading. It says:

    Button 2 supports Featured Images on your main blog and archive pages, and automatically adds detailed accents at the corners for a sweet, vintage look…

    omitting any mention of the fact that featured images may also be displayed on static pages and single posts. That’s what I explained in greater detail in my second post in the topic.

    The “detailed accents at the corners” also appear on featured images set on single posts and static pages.

  • Thanks, I’ll adjust the documentation so it says this:

    Button 2 has options to display Featured Images on your main blog, archive pages, single posts, and pages. It automatically adds detailed accents at the corners for a sweet, vintage look:

    It’ll take a while for that to appear in the theme showcase, but thanks for the suggestion.
