Button colour of bkg is too dark (was ok and still ok in editor)

  • Unknown's avatar

The button Bkg colour is bright green as standard, and was fine. Suddenly it’s gone very dark even though it’s fine in the editor.

Tried making new buttons and changing default colours, but can’t change it back.

How do I restore the bright green Bkg colour of the button?

ps there are 7 of the buttons at the top of every page of my site, 1st button is “Home”.

  • Hey there,

    Many thanks for reaching out.

It looks like the button styles have been edited via the Site Editor styles, from what I can see.

In order to publish these styles globally throughout the site, the premium plan would need to be on the site:

If that’s not active, the button styles would need to be edited manually, one by one, as seen here:

Out of curiosity, what other changes are you looking to make on the site? The reason being is that, other than global styles, there may be other features in the Premium plan, that you could make use of.

Looking forward to hearing more. :)

    Hi,

I went to site-editor/styles and reset to default. Seems to make no difference at all, Buttons still not bright green.

Added a Button called “Test 1” to https://speedcamerareport.co.uk/government-reports/

Made it’s colour bright green, and it does appear bright green, but the colour doesn’t hover black anymore. Also a different button on the main page (top) has suddenly also gone bright green, with no hover at all!

    Not making much sense !?!

ps. The buttons used to work fine at the start after publishing and you can see the buttons still work fine in the editor (except the top one), so something must be over-riding the buttons when site is published.

    Does that help?

I switched to a different theme (which made a right mess of my website), and then switched back to “Twenty Twenty-Three”.

My website is as before with faulty buttons. Switching themes didn’t fix the fault.

Added another Button called “Test 2” to https://speedcamerareport.co.uk/government-reports/

Weirdly, Test 2 has the same colours in the editor as on the webpage, yet the buttons in the site editor are different to the webpage.

  • Hello there,

I went to site-editor/styles and reset to default. Seems to make no difference at all, Buttons still not bright green.

This is expected, the styles will not publish to the live site unless there is a premium plan present on the site.

Made it’s colour bright green, and it does appear bright green, but the colour doesn’t hover black anymore.

I can actually see this test button is green, but I’m not seeing the hover black. The hover colour would be part of the global styles of the site.

he buttons used to work fine at the start after publishing and you can see the buttons still work fine in the editor (except the top one), so something must be over-riding the buttons when site is published.

The top button, has it’s options manually applied to just that button. This was done as per the screenshot above.

This would need to be replicated to all of the other buttons.

    I hope this helps.

It’s looking like it’s not possible to restore the buttons to what they were on the website (and still are in the editor) but I’ve found a work-around.

Just make the text white (no hover option).

This way looks ok on website (though bad in editor).

    Thanks anyway.
