Button Padding Missing

Back in June I noticed that the default design of the buttons block had changed. My original post has been closed with no update or changes, so I thought I’d try again now that I’ve done more research.

All the WordPress dot com support pages talking about the Buttons block mention a padding section, which is where you can increase the space inside the button surrounding the text. Not only has this option apparently disappeared from the site, but the original button problem I found appears to be the padding setting itself to zero. An article over on WordPress dot org about the buttons block posted in August indicates that padding is a feature on that site, but is just seems to have gone missing on dot com.

  • Hi there,

I helped you back then, and want to clarify that while this issue has been reported to our developers (as mentioned here) the theme you are using is an older one that is not receiving updates currently. It may get fixed eventually but is a lower priority for our team due to their work in creating new themes to work with the Full Site Editing feature in WordPress.

I’ve added a reminder to the report I filed originally, but I can’t estimate when a fix might occur. If you wish to upgrade to the Premium plan, I am able to share custom CSS code that you can add to your site to address the appearance of your buttons. The other option would be to switch to one of our newer themes (that were built after we launched the block editor) since the button block does work correctly on these themes.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
