[Button theme] Why the right sidebar is not appearing?

  • Unknown's avatar

Hello! I am using Button theme for the first time. I have choosen it because the demo showed it had a right sidebar where some widgets may be placed. However, when I added some widgets they displayed at the buttom of the page. It looks not well when it is placed in this way:

I would like widgets to be displayed on the right side of the page as it is shown on the demo. What should I do?

btw, I am using free version of the theme. May it be that this feature is available in Premium version?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

On your editing sidebar when you click on customize, then go to widgets, it will say footer widget or side widget. I just did a trial edit on my own site with this theme and when i went to the widgets it only gave me the sidebar option. Also, this is a free theme and I see no upgrade options so that should not be an issue

I would try first changing your theme, then go back to themes and chose Button, but do not activate yet, use the Try and Customize option first and see if you get the side widget option.

    Cheers

Thank you for your help @csmoran9 and hello @beautyegret. :)

I’m currently seeing a right sidebar, complete with widgets, when visiting beautyegret.wordpress.com. The sidebar will drop down to the footer area when the site is being viewed on screens that are 1024px in width are smaller. This is because the theme is designed to adapt to the size of the screen it’s being viewed on and make the most of the available space.

Let me know if you’re viewing your site on a smaller device and whether this could account for the positioning of your widget.

Thanks for the answers! I am using a PC and my display size is 1024 X 768. I see the sidebar is at the end of the page and I do not like it at all :(
Strangely, but the thing with sidebar placement depending on the display size is not specified on the theme description.
Is the theme Button a finished product or it is still being developed? Should I look for a different theme with the option I need?

    Hi @beautyegret,

I can confirm that Button is a finished product. The majority of our themes do adapt to devices of different sizes, to ensure that content is always optimised and readable to all visitors.

If you dislike the way that Button looks on your PC, you could consider a different theme from our repository. You can filter based on different criteria at the top:

    https://wordpress.com/themes

Adelle, for example, has a sidebar that remains in place to the right of the content for devices that are 680px in width or smaller.

If you’d like some further theme suggestions, then I’d be happy to help too.

siobhyb, Adelle looks amazing! I should try it and see how it looks for my blog. I need exactly this style of theme! Thank you for suggesting it. Would you be so kind to tell me how should I search for similar themes?

I’m glad you like the look of Adelle! I found it be filtering for free, minimal, blog-style themes that have two columns:

    https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/minimal+two-columns/type/free/

I encourage you to have a browse through the above filter to see if anything else stands out to you. :)
