Buy back your old domain name

    Hello everyone,

I have been in a situation for a few days to which I cannot find answers. I bought a domain name on wordpress.com (At the same time as a subscription for a personal plan), before reconsidering my decision and canceling this subscription and the purchase of the domain name (Which was confirmed by email by wordpress.com) on the same day, wanting to go to wordpress.org in the end and therefore another site to buy and host my domain name.
My problem is that the domain name I bought on wordpress.com is still not available several days after it was deleted. And according to information from the infomaniak.com site on this domain name, it was created exactly the same day and the same time as when I bought it, and would be hosted by wordpress.com: which means that the domain name will always belong to me even if it should no longer be the case.
Has anyone of you ever been in a similar situation or know how to fix this problem?

  • Hi @luciequatgmxfr,

When you refunded the lucie-naturopathe.fr domain, it is not immediately released to be registered elsewhere. Rather, it goes through a cancellation/deletion process that can span days to weeks. Additionally, when it does become available, there’s always a chance that someone can register this before you.

If you plan to keep this domain, we can restore it for you. While it’s locked for transfer for 60-days, you can use it with another host by updating it DNS records in the meantime.

Please check your inbox for an email from me.
