  Hi.

  I want to ask if I can buy a theme from the wordpress.com website forever. Which means no subscriptions just buy it and get the files.
  The theme I’m trying to buy is https://wordpress.com/theme/restaurant/
  but on the page it doesn’t say if it’s one time buy or subscription :(

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  When you purchase a Premium theme, it is available for the lifetime of that blog.

  My client website is on a separate server but he wants that theme… Not sure how to proceed in this case.

  The WordPress.com version of that theme is designed to only work here at WordPress.com. If you require to use that particular theme on a site hosted elsewhere using the WordPress.org software then you need to buy the appropriate version directly from the theme designers Organic Themes.

  Okay and where is that?
  On their website they seem to have only yearly subscribtion… Is this somekind of a mafia, I don’t get it.

  Hi there,

  WordPress.com, and using the open source WordPress software on your own server, are two completely different things.

  For the Premium Theme, Restaurant, we have an agreement with the theme shop that made that theme that we’re allowed to sell it on WordPress.com, and the person who buy it will be able to use it for as long as they want after that. But the theme is licensed to only be used on the one WordPress.com site on which the theme was bought, and it cannot be used anywhere else.

  If you want to use the theme on a WordPress site on your own server then you cannot use the version we sell on WordPress.com, as it’s not licensed to be used in that way. So in that case you need to buy the theme directly from the theme shop, and it will have a different license than if you bought it from us.

  If you’re not happy with the licensing terms under which the theme shop, Organic Themes in this case, offer the theme, you’ll need to take it up with them. They’re a separate business from WordPress.com, and we don’t have any control over how they run their business and license their products.
