Buying a domain

  Hello,

  I am interested in buying a domain.

  Could you please advise what do I get, beside the domain, with the 18$? Then, how can I get it?

  Is there any support included or extra storage?

  What are the advantages?

  You get nothing besides the domain and mapping the domain to your blog. Each upgrade here applies only exactly to what it says, so you’re still hosted here, still under the ToS, still have the code restrictions, but you do have a custom domain, which is a good thing to have anyway.

  Hi. Thanks for your reply.
  I am pretty new with the blogging and domain stuff, this is why I am looking for the best deal on the market :D

  For example, I’ve seen a domain on GoDaddy for 2 years is about 9 Pounds…If I’ll get that, how can I use it on my blog?

  Then, if I’ll get a domain I can easily add ads on my site, right?

  If you get that, you’ll still have to pay $13 or so to connect it with your blog here. The WordPress.com option is cheaper.

  No, you cannot put ads on your blog. Like I said, every upgrade applies specifically to what it says and nothing more, so no, the Terms of Service still apply.

  What does happen is that once your hits are significant enough (in the realm of 1000 a day) and you have a custom domain, you can apply for the Word Ads program. No guarantee you’ll be accepted. Then you split ad revenue with WordPress.com 50/50.

  This 13$ is indeed cheaper…

  I see, so if would like to put an add link from an affiliate on my blog from wordpress I’ll get a no no…this really sucks..

  But, what do I need to do to be able to place an ad to my blog?Is there a workaround? Or the only option is to buy a domain and the move all my data from the blog to another site?

  No workaround other than to move off WordPress.COM – many people try workarounds and get their sites suspended every day

  Could you please advise if I buy a domain and I download the wordpress application, would I be able then to add any ads I want?
