Buying a domain and then using WordPress? Is this possible?

  I’m really sorry if I’m being ignorant – is it possible to buy your domain and then use it on WordPress or do you have to essentially ‘rent’ the domain name through WordPress for subscription e.g. the professional plan?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi,

  You can definitely buy a domain elsewhere and then use it on WordPress. It would require purchasing a WordPress.com Plan. Then you can choose to Transfer or Map a domain to your WordPress site.
