Buying a plan, setting up a subdomain and traffic

First, if I buy a plan, does it work per site or per profile?

Second, if I buy a premium plan and use the free domain that it provides as the MAIN domain. Do I have to buy a subdomain or only map it?

Also, if I set up a site that has a domain and subdomain (in the premium plan). Does the traffic of the two adds together or not and it’s seen as completely separate, in case I want to use WordAds.

  • Hi there,

    1) Plans are per site, not per account.

    2) All sites on WordPress.com come with a free *.wordpress.com subdomain. If you add a plan, you have the option to replace that domain with a custom domain, either by registering a new domain directly with us, or mapping a domain you bought elsewhere or a subdomain on another domain to us.

So if you have a custom domain you’ll have two domains on your site, the free *.wordpress.com one, and the custom domain, however you add it. You control which one is the primary domain, i.e. which is the one visitors to your site will see.

    3) No matter how many domains you have on a site, they all redirect to the primary domain. There aren’t separate stats for separate domains. We count views based on how many people load your site in their browsers, not based on what link they click to load your site.
