Buying domain that says it is registered but website has been taken down

    How do I buy domain for a website that no longer exists? This would be mean that the domain is now free for the public to purchase.

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi @nwindels1999, I can think of two cases where you’d run into problems with this:

    – The domain is expired but is still in redemption (so not free for purchase yet)

    – The domain was once hosted here and is associated with another account

    We should be able to tell which scenario you’re up against if you’ll send two details:

    – the domain you’re trying to add

    – any error message you get
